چکیده

The NA57 experiment has measured the pT distributions of K 0 S, Λ, and Λ particles in fixed-target Pb–Pb interactions at √ sNN = 17.3 GeV, as a function of the collision centrality. In this paper we study the central-toperipheral nuclear modification factors and compare them to other measurements and to theoretical predictions.

Results from Na57

The NA57 experiment has measured the production of strange and multi-strange hadrons in heavy-ion collisions at the CERN SPS. After briefly introducing the NA57 apparatus and analysis procedures, we present recent results on strangeness enhancement in Pb–Pb relative to p–Be collisions, on the study of themT distributions of strange particles, and on central-to-peripheral nuclear modification fa...

Strange Baryon Production From Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions at the AGS, SPS and RHIC

We will present a review of selected results on strange baryon production from nucleus-nucleus collisions at the AGS, SPS and RHIC. From the AGS and SPS heavy ion physics program several intriguing aspects: centrality dependence of strangeness production, anti-hyperon yield, hyperon production enhancement and baryon number transport will be highlighted. Our discussion on RHIC results will focus...

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Anisotropic flow of K's, K's, and Λ's is studied in heavy ion collisions at SPS and RHIC energies within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. At SPS energy the directed flow of kaons differs considerably at midrapidity from that of antikaons, while at RHIC energy kaon and antikaon flows coincide. The change is attributed to formation of dense meson-dominated matter at RHIC, where the diffe...

A GeV at CERN SPS

The measurement of multiple strange particles provides information on the hadronization features of strongly interacting matter produced in heavy ion collisions. If we assume that a deconfinement phase transition occurs in a heavy ion collision, we have to look for qualitative changes (onset phenomena) when varying external parameters like system size and energy density. Therefore we study the ...
